NOMINATIONS
Nomination Meeting. Nominations will be accepted from the floor at a membership meeting at the date, time, and location below. Any active member in good standing is eligible to nominate candidates from any work unit. No seconds will be required. Self-nominations will be permitted.

Term of Office. The term of office will run for three (3) years beginning January 6, 2024. Candidates elected as President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and the Trustee who receives the most votes in the election will also serve as delegates to all International Union Conventions.
Offices. President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and three (3) Trustees who will be elected at-large.
Executive Board members: One (1) Executive Board member from each bargaining unit; one (1) additional Executive Board member for every five hundred (500) members in each bargaining unit; one (1) Executive Board member to represent members who are not Registered Nurses. Members other than Registered Nurses shall elect a peer from that category.
The number of Executive Board seats for each bargaining unit will be determined by the member count on September 30, 2023.
Candidate Eligibility. Article IX Section 6 of the HNA Constitution and Bylaws requires a candidate to be an active member of this union in continuous good standing for at least the preceding twelve (12) months.

The Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act Section 504 prohibits persons convicted of certain crimes from holding Union office for a maximum of 13 years following conviction or the end of imprisonment, whichever is later.
Written Nominations. If unable to attend the nomination meeting, a member may submit a written nomination by email to hnaelection2023@hinurse.org or by mail to HNA Nominations c/o Hawaii Nurses Association P.O. Box 8457, Honolulu, HI, 96830. The nomination should include the name of the nominee, office to which nominated, and the name and phone number of the member making the nomination. Written nominations must be received by 4pm on October 6, 2023.
Acceptance of Nomination. Candidates must accept nomination at the nomination meeting or, if not in attendance, a written acceptance must be received by the Secretary, Cheryl Lynn Miller, no later than October 12, 2023 by email to hnaelection2023@hinurse.org or to the P.O. Box noted above.

ELECTION
Mail Ballot Election. Voting will be by mail only. There will be no option to cast ballots electronically or by phone. Ballots will be mailed on or about November 7, 2023.
Eligibility to Vote. All active members in good standing may vote in this election. If you are not sure as to your status, please call the HNA Membership Department at (808) 531-1628.
Replacement Ballots. If you do not receive a ballot by November 17, 2023, please call 1-877-324-7655. Ballot requests can be made until November 30, 2023. Ballots will be counted at 5:00 p.m. on December 8, 2023.
Deadline to Return Ballots. Please mail your ballot in sufficient time to reach the Airport Post Office in Honolulu by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023. Any ballot received after that date and time will not be counted. Do not give your ballot to anyone else to handle or mail on your behalf. Do not deliver your ballot to the union office.
Tally. The tally will start immediately after the ballots have been picked up at the Airport Post Office at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023, and transported to the HNA office. The tally will be conducted by Merriman River Group. Results will be announced and posted on the HNA website (www.hawaiinurses.org) as soon as possible after the ballot count.
